Do I have a pre-existing medical condition?

This is how we define a pre-existing condition at Pluto. This will vary from insurer to insurer (but generally they are similar). You should always make sure you understand whether you do and don't have a condition in the eyes of your insurer.

A pre-existing condition is an illness, injury or disease that you have had (or should have had) a consultation for, symptoms of or treatment for in the last 12 months. For example:

  • Any ongoing, recurring, chronic, or serious illness, injury, disease or condition (including anxiety state or depression, mental, nervous or emotional disorder) for which any person travelling under the policy has been prescribed medication, or received surgery, in-patient or outpatient treatment or investigations in a hospital or clinic.
  • Been prescribed medication or been hospitalised
  • Any symptoms or conditions for which any person travelling under this policy is under investigation or where they are awaiting tests, or test results, or surgery & the cause has not been diagnosed.
  • A terminal illness

If you're still not sure, just use the chat icon on the bottom right to ask us and we'd be happy to help.

Unfortunately, at this time, we're not able to provide cover to those that have a pre-existing medical condition or have had a pre-existing condition in the last 12 months. Please message us if you're unsure.

If you do want cover for any pre-existing conditions, you may wish to go directly to Zurich as they may be able to provide you with a quote:
