The Pluto November update
With little sign of improvement in the travel industry, we can only stay focused on what we can control. If anything, it's helped us focus more than ever. And even to step back and assess whether we were progressing as quickly as possible towards our vision to be the go-to global travel brand, that people use throughout every part of their travel experience.
So, all things considered, the business is beginning to grow again and we're passing some amazing milestones. Here's what we've been up to in the last month:

- Doubling down on travel planning

New updates released to our travel planning tool
Since launching our travel planning tool last month, we've been chatting with lots of customers to understand how we can continue to improve it to better suit their needs. In addition to general improvements, we made it possible to add a text-based note to a Pinboard. As well enabling users to copy individual items from our Explore Pinboards to their own. Next up, we'll be launching a map view – so users can view all of their items on a map. And a feature so they can add to their Pinboard from any app on their iPhone. We also got a shout-out from Sheerluxe (large online lifestyle publication) about our new travel planning tool, describing it as "the new travel app allowing you to plan your holiday and store all your travel notes in one place".
Growth is returning to the business
People may not be travelling internationally from the UK, but there has been a surge in domestic trips over the last few months. This is expected to decline with the most recent national lockdown, but people are still dreaming and even planning their holidays for 2021. In addition, there are other countries in the world where the rules are less restrictive and domestic and even international travel continues.
It's for all of these reasons we're able to continue growing our user base. And the launch of our free travel planning tool has allowed this. Below, you can see the impact on our recent growth. For comparison, we've kept the insurance only customers, which shows where the business would be if we kept on the previous course.
In the last 2 months, since launching our travel planning tool, we've grown our entire user base by 22%.
Launching in the USA
Carrying on from the point above, part of this recent growth is our (very exciting) launch in the USA.
One of the biggest benefits to our travel planning tool is that it can be used by anyone, anywhere in the world. The USA has an enormous domestic travel market and in general is less locked down than the UK. For this reason, we've started advertising in the USA and have filled up our inspirational content to include some amazing vacation destinations for y'all on the East and West coasts.
This is a very exciting new chapter for business as it's the first time we can welcome users from outside the UK.
Pluto was named Best Travel Insurance Provider
We're extremely humbled and proud that Pluto was named Best Travel Insurance Provider in the Insurance Choice Awards. This is one of the very few consumer voted awards, so thank you to all our customers that voted for us.
In these times, it's a nice reminder for the whole team about all the hard work that's gone into the product over the last 12 months.
Doubling down on travel planning
Finally, as we alluded to earlier on, the pandemic has made us ask tough and big questions about the business, especially when considering the current travel outlook. Removing the hassle from all parts of travel has always been our ambition, and this was never going to be limited to just travel insurance. But, coronavirus has forced us to expedite our strategy and ensure we're building a business that has a global reach and one that isn't overly reliant on any specific audience or revenue stream.
What does that mean? Well, if you have an eye for detail, you'll notice on our website and apps the increased emphasis on Pluto being the home to all your travel plans. We're already starting to see benefits from this strategy through our continued growth of the business even in these uncertain times. It's what makes us excited, optimistic and highly motivated for the future.
